  • Teen & Adult Segment 1 + Behind-the-Wheel Roseville Office Only

    Adult students over the age of 18 older will need to have a temporary instruction permit (TIP) prior to performing any of their BTW lessons. Students are welcome to attend the first few classes before visiting Secretary of State office to be issued the TIP; if they would like to gain knowledge before taking the test at Secretary of State for this document to be issued.

    Teens must be at least 14 years and 8 months old prior to the first day of class. A Segment 1 course consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction, and 4 hours of observation. Students are given an exam on their last day of segment one and must get a 70 percent or better on the exam to finish the course.

    This course is six weeks long in total (three weeks of classroom and three weeks of driving instruction). Students must complete two classroom sessions before beginning any on-road instruction. Driving instruction will be completed within 3 weeks of the students last classroom session.

    Teen drivers this is the first step of Michigan's GDL program. Students will also need to take a Segment 2 course and pass the road exam to obtain their level 2 license. You will need to go to the Secretary of State and obtain a Level 1 Learner's License before you can begin any of your behind-the-wheel driving lessons.  Teens who are issued a level 1 learners license can perform supervised driving hours with a licensed parent.

    A minimum payment of $150 is required to register. The remaining balance can be paid however you chose as long as the final payment is received no later than the start time of the first in class session. If the course starts at 3PM, then the balance must be paid prior to that time. Students with any outstanding balance will not be able to schedule driving lessons. If the student still has a remaining balance by the second week of the course, they will be automatically dropped from the course.

    All virtual courses require to take the student to take the exam in person. Students will need to attend the last classroom session (day 12) of an in-person course to take the exam. 

    Students enrolled in a virtual classroom are required to be present and actively participating for the duration of the session. Students engaging in activity unrelated to the classroom, will be given one verbal warning. Upon a second occurrence of unrelated activity during a class session, the student will be terminated from the class. Students that are terminated will not be able to participate in any future courses and will forfeit their right to a refund. The state of Michigan requires that we record all virtual classroom sessions.

    Parking lesson-Prepare student for Michigan’s basic control skills portion of the road exam. Parallel parking and other basic control skills portion of the final road exam. This lesson is one hour long in length.
