Michigan Driving Schools Refund and Cancellation Policies

We incur substantial cost to prepare, and host scheduled classes with very limited classroom sizes; we must enforce the following refund policies:


All refunds are subject to a processing fee. Segment 1 course processing fee of 50 dollars, Segment 2 processing fee of 25 dollars, Private Lesson processing fee for 1 lesson is 25 dollars, processing fee for packaged lesson is 50 dollars. Processing fees are not for profit. These fees are Michigan Driving Schools has already paid to the software, payment processing, and credit card fees. Upon student enrollment to receive a refund these processing fees will be dedicated first there are no expectations for the processing fee. Refunds that are processed will be charged this fee.


The student must notify Michigan Driving School Inc. at least 48 hours prior to the start of their lesson if they need to cancel any of their upcoming BTW Instructions. The student must contact Michigan Driving School Inc. in writing by emailing us at: or by texting their instructor directly.
Rescheduling of this driving lesson needs to be directly with your instructor. Instructors do their own scheduling. The instructors contact information can be found in the reminder emails sent to you.

Instructors also give their contact number to each student on the first day of class or driving lesson. You can also send us a message right from your student portal. If the Student does not give 48-hour notice of cancelation they will be charged a fee of $45.00. Students who are more than 5 minutes late to their schedule BTW instruction, will be considered a no-show and a fee of $45.00 will be applied. Any fees a student occurs must be paid in full before any other BTW instruction will be given.


Instructors are only paid when they are conducting sessions, when a student misses a driving lesson for any reason there will be a $45.00 no show fee that must be paid before the student can continue with any future sessions. We advise students to arrive to classes and driving sessions at least 10 minutes early. If a student is more than 5 minutes late for a behind the wheel session, they will be considered a no-show and a fee of $45.00 will be applied to their account.


If a student does not have proper shoes on to drive with high heels and flip flops are not allowed to be worn for any BTW lesson. If a student shows up with incorrect footwear, they will be considered a no-show and a fee of $45.00 will be applied to their account.

Course Movement FEES:

Please note that if your student is not eligible and cannot attend class you will have to pay a fee of $20.00 for Segment 2 and $50 for Segment 1 to move them to a different course. Please read everything carefully.
Students are only allowed one course movement and we require documentation, and it must be an emergency. Michigan Driving Schools reserves the right to change course's dates and times in the event of an emergency and or unpredictable event. All sales are final.


If you interested in enrolling for one of our courses, please check the dates and times to make sure that your student will be able to commit to these courses before enrolling the student. Student enrollment for a course after payment is received is final. All Courses and private lessons teen and adult sales are final.

Adult and Teen private lesson enrollments will be contact via email 24 – 48 hours after enrollment is received for scheduling.

We will try our best to accommodate everyone as much as we can. However, it is not always possible for us to switch a student from one course to another course.

If we are given at least a weeks' notice prior to the start of the course, we will try our very best to accommodate you and your student. If a student cannot attend the course due to a medical, we may require certain documentation before the student can return to class. These refunds will still be subject to a processing fee. Please see our processing fee section above for each course and private lesson.


If a class is missed, it must be made up during a future course. If a student misses' day 4 of the course, they will need to make up day 4 of the future course. Students can log into their portals to reschedule any missed classroom sessions or contact their instructors directly and they can assist you with scheduling any make-up classes you have missed. It is the parent and student's responsibility to schedule their own make up lessons.

This must be done within 45 days from the date of the missed course. After 45 days have passed the student will be marked as incomplete with the state of Michigan, no refund will be given.


Upon completion of a segment 1 and 2 course the students will receive a certificate of completion. Segment 1 student will need to take this certificate to the secretary of state to be issued a level 1 learner's license. The student cannot drive with just a certificate of completion document. They need to be issued a level 1 license before they can legally begin their supervised driving hours. These certificates will be given to the students on the day of their last driving lesson. They will not be giving out on the last day of their classroom session unless the student has already completed all 6 behind the wheel driving lessons. Parents please do not make a secretary of state appointment until you have the date of the students last driving lesson.

Segment 2 certificate of completions will be given to the student on their last day of class. These certificates of completion are used to schedule a road exam. The student will not need to return to secretary of state after segment 2 if they have a plastic level 1 learner's license.

Secretary of state now requires an appointment for all in-person branch appointments visits, we advise that customers attempt to schedule a next-day appointment online at Next-day appointments are offered between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Morning appointments become available the previous day at 8 a.m., while afternoon appointments become available the previous day at noon.
