Michigan Driving School Inc. Refund and Cancellation Policies

We incur substantial cost to prepare and host scheduled classes with very limited classroom sizes; we must enforce the following refund policies:


The student must notify Michigan Driving School Inc. at least 48 hours prior to the start of their lesson if they need to cancel any of their upcoming BTW Instructions. The student must contact Michigan Driving School Inc. in writing by emailing us at: all cancelations must be done in writing. Calling on the phone and leaving a message during non-business hours or weekends is not considered to be notice. You can also send us a message right from your student portal. If the Student does not give 48-hour notice of cancelation they will be charged a fee of 30 dollars. If the student has a schedule BTW instruction and does not show up for that lesson, they will be required to pay a no-show fee of 30 dollars. If a student is more than 5 minutes late to their schedule BTW instruction, they will be considered a no-show and a fee of 30 dollars will be applied. Any fees a student occurs must be paid in full before any other BTW instruction will be given.


We schedule Auto Road Tests Monday – Saturday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the fall and winter months.  In the spring and summer months we schedule Auto Road Test appointments from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Appointments are made by calling 810-278-1291.

All Auto Test appointments are made over the phone. You will need a credit card to make any appointments.  You are required to make a $25.00 deposit for a test with the balance to be paid to the examiner at the test site either by cash.

Cancellations/Reschedule: Road Exams require a 48 hours notice.  If the Cancellation and or rescheduled are not done at least 48 hours in advance before the day of your Road Exam fee of at least $25.00 will be required to reschedule the exam.


If you fail any portion of the road test and you schedule a new test and return for a new test, then the fee for the second test will only be half of the original fee you paid. Please note the fee for road exams differs between weekdays and weekends so please make sure you know what day you will be taking the exam on. If you arrive at the Road-Testing site and your vehicle fails to meet the equipment standards for the Road Test the fee for the car rental fee.

If you arrive at the Road-Test Site without the necessary/required documents or your documents are unreadable or outdated you will be considered to be a no-show and a fee will be applied to your account that must be paid before you can schedule another exam.


Our instructors are only paid when they are conducting sessions, when a student misses a drive lesson for any reason there will be a $25.00 no show fee that must be paid before the student can continue with any future sessions. We advise students to arrive to classes and driving sessions at least 10 minutes early. If a student is more than 5 minutes late for a behind the wheel session, they will be considered a no-show and a fee of $30.00 will be applied to their account. If a student does not have proper shoes on to drive with high heels and flip flops are not allowed to be worn for any BTW lesson. If a student shows up with incorrect footwear, they will be considered a no-show and a fee of $30.00 will be applied to their account.

Course Cancelation:

Please note that if your student is not eligible and cannot attend class you will have to pay a fee of $20.00 for Segment 2 and $50 for Segment 1 to move them to a different course. Please read everything carefully. Students are only allowed one course movement and we require documentation and it must be an emergency. Michigan Driving School reserves the right to change all of our course's dates and times in the event of an emergency and or unpredictable event. Course Movement FEES:

If you enroll in a course, please check the dates and times to make sure that your student will be able to commit to these courses.
Once a class is paid for these sales are final.

We will try our best to accommodate everyone as much as we can. However, it is not always possible for us to switch a student from one course to another course. If you would like to change a course that you are already enrolled in and paid for you will have to request a refund and pay a cancellation fee (up to 50%) and re-enroll in an available class.

If we are given at least a weeks' notice prior to the start of the course we will try our very best to accommodate you and your student. If a student cannot attend the course due to a medical, we may require certain documentation before the student can return to class.

Student Cancellation for Drivers Education Classes:

If a class is missed, it must be made up during a future course. Students can log into their portals to reschedule any missed classroom sessions. It is the student's responsibility to schedule their own make up lessons. This must be done within 45 days from the date of the missed course. After 45 days have passed the student will be marked as incomplete with the state, no refund will be given. Keep in mind that during the pandemic class sizes are very limited so future class dates might have a waiting list. We try our best to accommodate any student the best we can in these types of situations.

For those that require an in-person branch visit to complete their transaction, we advise that customers attempt to schedule a next-day appointment online at Next-day appointments are offered between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Morning appointments become available the previous day at 8 a.m., while afternoon appointments become available the previous day at noon.
